St. David’s RC High School has been in campus since October 2003.
Our school roll is just under 900 and our pupils are drawn from all areas of Midlothian and several parts of East Lothian.
Our school building is excellent. The sports facilities, drama studio, music base and classrooms are all of a very high quality. The new building has also allowed us to take the lead in developing information technology in all areas of school life. We have:
We have now established a Media Centre, which includes video conferencing facilities. This allows us to establish video links with our associated primaries and with our SCIAF partners in India. St David’s has raised £17K in the past 2 years for SCIAF. Sir Tom Farmer has sponsored our Working for Our World (WOW) Project, which supports young people in Bangalore, India who have physical disabilities.
We have also installed stained glass windows in our chapel. These and our beautiful Memorial garden, were consecrated by Cardinal O’Brien. The chapel is beautiful and is well used by staff and pupils. The chaplaincy team have developed positive links with our deanery parishes and have prepared a programme of events for the year ahead. Details of all of these are included in our termly newsletters, which are issued to parents, associated primaries and Deanery parishes. It was also my pleasure to visit all Deanery primaries and parishes in the past year and to meet our wider school community.
We are keen to maintain excellent links with all of our parishes and welcome parental enquiries about any aspect of school life. St. David’s staff are committed to supporting young people of all abilities and helping them achieve their potential. We now have an excellent building in which this can happen.
