St. David's, Dalkeith.

Society of The Sacred Heart, "Rosehill Convent"

The religious of the Sacred Heart first came to Dalkeith in 1975 to “Westwood” in Newbattle Road. The small community was engaged in teaching, catechetical work and Parish visitation.

In 1985 “Rosehill” opened which was ideally suited for the older religious having the Parish of St. David’s at our back door.

1988 brought the closure of “Westwood”, the Community being transferred to “Rosehill”.

It was soon recognised that we were becoming an ageing Province and that more sisters would be in need of 24 hour care.

In 1993 a purpose built wing was erected and we became “Rosehill Care Home”.

At the present moment there are 6 sisters occupying East Wing with a Manager and 20 members of Staff. There are 14 sisters altogether and our Ministries are helping in the Parish, visiting the sick and elderly in the Parish, teaching in the Primary School once a week and taking part in Parish activities, but our main Ministry for all of us is PRAYER.
