St. Vincent de Paul Society The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is a lay association founded in Paris during the early part of the 19th century. Its founding members were students, principle amongst whom was Frederic Ozanam. Realising the need to express the Faith in action as well as argument, they became active in helping the poor, particularly by visiting families afflicted by the conditions of the time. The Society has grown steadily since then and is now to be found throughout Catholic parishes worldwide, providing a sense of continuity and solidarity. St. David’s Dalkeith parish has a small St. Vincent de Paul Conference of six members meeting frequently on an informal basis. The Conference organises events and outings within the parish and fund raises for deserving causes. We also participate in several Edinburgh Group Conference projects such as the Furniture Project and the Caravan Project. |
